Merge of South Grange & Lagan Surgery

As from April 2018 South Grange Medical Centre and Lagan Surgery have merged. Both surgeries still operate from their own sites, but with the opportunity for patients to be seen at either surgery.

The reason for this merge is to improve the quality and range of services provided for both surgeries, including access to appointments. Through merging both practices together we will achieve better use of space and also share expertise more effectively.

Patients attending the surgery will benefit from a wider access of appointment times during 8am-6pm and we offer extended hours on a Saturday for pre-booked appointments.

Extended Hours - STAR Service

From 1 April 2017, NHS South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group introduced a number of changes to urgent care to make it easier and more convenient for patients living across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland to access GP appointments seven days a week .

Four extended hours GP centres will be open from 6pm to 9.30pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 8am to 9.30pm on weekends and Bank Holidays and will be based at:

  • Hirsel Medical Centre, North Ormesby Health Village
  • Bluebell Surgery, Acklam
  • Bentley Medical Centre, Redcar Primary Care Hospital
  • Brotton Surgery, East Cleveland Hospital

For further information on STAR service and how to access appointments during extended hours, please click here.
